One of Willy's "2Loose" Motor Pages....

I managed to save a '67 Olds 400 motor and close ratio M21 four speed tranny from the crusher, it had been in a Cutlass 442, but it was far too rotted to be worth saving. Saved the suspension, rear end, steering (now in the 55 gasser project) and some other parts.....

Thought I should tear it down and see how it looks inside....

It proved to have had water in some of the cylinders, had to resort to primitive methods to get some of those pistons out of the block....

This one was stuck in there the worst, but eventually I got it out....

The block will be good to go with a 0.030 clean up bore job, the rods look good but I prefer aftermarket rods, like to use these 7 " K1 rods with JE forged pistons....

The crank is the same as the forged 3.975" stroke that I am using in my 425 blown olds, so I have a spare crank for that motor.

I could also run a cast 455 crank (4.250" stroke, I have several stashed away) in this 400 block and get 434 ci with a 0.030 overbore (4.030 bore x 4.250 stroke), with the right cam it would be a real stump puller.....

Even managed to save the original Hurst 442 shifer....
