OD RACING MAUI....

By "2Loose" Willy.....

We started the OD Racing shop fifteen years ago (or more) as a way for a bunch of old friends to get together and work on our cars and trucks together, trade parts, trade skills, and have fun....

OD stands for Old Dudes, but could just as well stand for OverDose, as in horsepower, where for us there is no dose like an OverDose....

An old open air packing shed on Maui was converted to a working auto shop, just for us guys to work on our rigs, and occasionally have a BBQ and beer session and "talk story" (a hawaii term for lots of BS....), known locally as "Fender Friday"....

Here's a shot from the year 2000, we had quite a few projects going already....

Here's a shot today, same '55 chevy, and a bunch of other projects....

Most of these are pure race cars. Mine are street rods, I race a little, but am not as hard core as some of the guys are....

There's a Camaro and a Nova race car being worked on here....

Here's a 63 Pontiac Tempest being developed into a very fast car....

Blown big block chevy probably will reside in the Tempest....

This altered roadster has been around for quite awhile. Originally powered by a Pontiac 455, it has had a variety of motors and trannies over the last ten or more years. Currently a big block chevy, runs very consitent mid-nines....

Here's a street roadster coming slowly along. 283 ci Chevy, and a wide ratio BW T10 4 speed will be plenty for just cruising Maui....

We had fun one Fender Friday with some cardboard and masking tape imagining what the body might look like on this roadster....

Never seen headers coming up through the hood before, what the heck, exhaust stacks maybe???

Here's a Chevy truck getting the ax, engine setback, big block chevy eventually, probably a 540....

This '59 Ford pickup has been on the road a couple of times over the years, street and strip with a big inch Ford motor, the strip takes it's toll though, and the motor is currently getting an overhaul.

Here's one of my rigs, I first put this '58 Chevy pro street truck together in '98 in Oregon, at my brother Mike's place (Benchmark Fab and Finish in Corvallis), got it running and shipped it home to finish working on it here. It has been in and out of the Old Dudes shop many times for modifications and improvements....

Had to add a tilt bed to get the rear Micky Thompson tires on and off....

The motor is a Chevy 502 short block with Edelbrock parts added....

In 2000 I put this '55 Chevy 4x4 stepside together in brother Mike's Oregon shop, shipped it home, and have done a lot of work on it here. Motor is an Olds 455 with a 4L80e behind it....

Many Thanks Mike for all the help over the years!!!

I put this '55 Chevy 4dr "gasser" together in the Old Dudes shop over the last couple of years. A 6/71 blower on top of a '67 Olds 425, with a Doug Nash 5 speed behind it provides the motivation....

My '55 Chevy hardtop is back in the shop now for a complete overhaul. New motor is a '93 LT1 with a T56 six speed and a ford 9" rear end....

A bike finds it way in here occasionally....

This is my '62 I chopped in '69, ran it this way until '91, it needed a complete rebuild, but got put away until recently, when I hauled it out and started working on it....

One of our members was in an Oahu car club in the fifties, the Ladds. They have been gone for a long time, but we wanted to use that plaque design, so we had O'Brien Trucking make us some new plaques for the Old Dudes Racing group using the old design....

ALOHA for now, will add more as we get more of these rigs running....
