2Loose Willy's Gasser Project, ..................... . TIRES, GEARS, TIRES, GEARS...... Which setup will work best???

Working out which rear tires and which rear gears will give the best results at the track....

At the moment I have a pair of Hoosier Pro Street tires in 31x12.50R15, mounted on a 12" wide rim, it looks good on the car but I wish it was a little taller. The actual loaded rolling diameter (calculated) is 27.8", a bit short for running a 4.11 or a 4.33 gear set on the streets. Presently running a 3.50 on a Detroit Locker and that seems like a good combo for the street....

And I have a pair of MT racing slicks that are 31" loaded rolling diameter, perfect for a 4.11 setup at the track, but those 4.11's would get tiresome running around on the street....

Here is a spreadsheet showing the Hoosiers in the first three data sets, comparing rpm with mph for three r&p sets, 3.00, 3.50 and 4.11. Then there are three data sets showing the MT race tires with 3.50, 4.11 and 4.33 r&p sets. I have all these gear sets plus a 4.56 available on the shelf, or installed. The 4.11 set is in my spare third member and ready to go for the track, just have to swap it out.

I like the 4.11 data set for the MT's the best. I highlighted that one in red, with the speed I am hoping for going through the lights at our local NHRA track. 125 mph is the goal. We shall see....
